APU Inks Strategic MoU with FrieslandCampina Service Centre Asia Pacific to Forge Academic Excellence


Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) and FrieslandCampina Service Centre Asia Pacific have solidified their partnership through a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This collaboration was formalised by Professor Dr. Ho Chin Kuan, Vice Chancellor of APU; and Mr. Clément Jean Guillaume Nouwens, Director of Finance Shared Services of FrieslandCampina. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Tan Chin Ike, Head of School of Computing; and Mr. Praveen Devaraju, Head of Networks & Communications & KL IT Shared Services Center Lead.

FrieslandCampina is a Dutch multinational dairy cooperative with headquarters in Amersfoort, Netherlands. FrieslandCampina has grown into one of the largest dairy companies in the world, with famous brands such as Dutch Lady and Friso in Malaysia. FrieslandCampina established the FrieslandCampina Service Centre Asia Pacific, providing functional services in the areas of Finance, Procurement, and IT. Their Shared Service Centre in Malaysia is the backbone of their business processes in Asia.

The formalisation of the newly established collaboration was carried out on 2 October 2023 at Frieslandcampina’s office.

The key objectives of this collaboration include the benchmarking and endorsement of the selected programme curriculum and /or modules, student internships, career opportunities, industrial final-year projects, webinars, talks, and other company visibility activities for teaching and learning purposes.

In collaboration with FrieslandCampina, APU will ensure the relevancy of selected Computing Degree programmes by benchmarking their curriculum against skills and competencies both organisations see as needed in the technology industry. The partnership will promote priority internship opportunities for APU students within FrieslandCampina, offering them valuable industry experience.

Initiated by Dr. Dewi Octaviani, this collaboration symbolises the synergy of academic excellence and industrial practice, which is in line with APU’s vision and mission, transforming students into highly employable, competent, and future-proof professionals.

To conclude, this strategic partnership between FrieslandCampina and APU is proof of the power of collaboration, education, and innovation in shaping the future of technology education and fostering the growth of individuals and industries.
