Hands-on Drone Technology Workshop Ignites Creativity at APU

To encourage students to explore drone technology, the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) hosted a dynamic workshop on September 10, 2024, allowing participants to experience and test one of the lightest and most compact drones on the market.

The event, held on APU’s Technology Park Malaysia campus, was organised by the School of Media, Arts and Design (SoMAD) in collaboration with DJI, the world’s largest drone manufacturer, renowned for its cutting-edge commercial unmanned aerial vehicles.

Facilitated by experts from DJI Malaysia, the workshop provided hands-on experience with the DJI Neo drone.

The 25 participants, including students from SoMAD and members of the Beyond Media Club, learned about the drone’s features, functionalities, and real-world applications. Throughout the session, DJI’s team guided them through practical exercises and demonstrations, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the technology.

The event, held for the second time and led by Project Manager Mr Chua Soo Han, a Lecturer at SoMAD, aimed to inspire innovation and creativity among students, equipping them with valuable skills for future careers in media, arts, and design. Mr Chua is actively pursuing potential collaborations to create career opportunities for students.

By providing direct access to advanced technology, APU and DJI empowered participants to explore new possibilities in aerial photography and videography.
