Former Premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad Inspires APU Students at Perdana Leadership Foundation


All students were inspired by Tun Dr Mahathir’s insights on continuous learning, innovation, and the essence of true leadership beyond titles, as he urged them to embrace technology and take pride in their heritage.


During a visit to the Perdana Leadership Foundation, APU students posed for photos with Malaysia’s former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

A group of 24 Information Technology and Marketing students from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad during a visit to the Perdana Leadership Foundation, Putrajaya.

Accompanied by their lecturers, Ms Hairul Aysa Abdul Halim Sithiq and Ms Nik Nurul Ain Nik Suki, the students were thrilled and honoured to have this unexpected encounter.

Before meeting Tun Dr Mahathir, the students had a brief session with his private secretary, Tan Sri Badariah Arshad.

During their meeting with Tun Dr Mahathir, the students were captivated by his insightful words on continuous learning, knowledge acquisition, and innovation.


APU students are also permitted to enter the Perdana Leadership Library and Tun Dr Mahathir’s personal library.

Tun Dr Mahathir emphasised that leadership is not about titles or positions but about passion, commitment, and the ability to inspire others.

He encouraged the students never to stop learning, stay ahead with technology, and be proud of their heritage.

The students were also treated to a tour of the Perdana Leadership Library, where they saw artifacts and gifts from around the world.

They were particularly fascinated by the ‘iCopybook’ machine, which prints Tun Dr Mahathir’s speeches in black and white.


Perdana Leadership Foundation staff is giving information about the iCopybook machine.

They also visited the Audio Room, where his speeches are processed and preserved, and his personal library, which houses an extensive collection of books and journals.

Tun Dr Mahathir’s inspiring stories and words of wisdom left a lasting impression on the APU students.

His emphasis on education, innovation, and national pride will undoubtedly guide them in their future endeavours.

The students are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to applying the lessons they learned during their visit.
