On the 31st of July 2023, the School of Marketing and Management (SoMM) at APU organised an enlightening Guest Lecture Series on the subject of Personal Branding and Networking.
Mr. Jagmohan Singh, the Campus Director of The Centre of Applied Data Science (CADS) walked into the APU campus and shed light on personal branding and networking.
The guest lecturer for the event was Mr. Jagmohan Singh, the Campus Director of The Centre of Applied Data Science (CADS), who shared insights into how’s, do’s and don’t’s of personal branding and networking.
The primary aim of the event was to extend the boundaries of traditional classroom learning by providing students with the opportunity to interact with distinguished industry experts.
Presenting his talk at Auditorium 5 at APU, Mr. Jagmohan Singh engaged the audience with a thought-provoking lecture on the relevance of personal branding in the modern world.

The lecture emphasised the significance of personal branding in establishing a unique identity and fostering meaningful connections in both personal and professional spheres.
Branding has traditionally been limited to organisations, but Mr. Jagmohan Singh highlighted that this has now extended to personal branding. Every individual possesses a brand that influences how others perceive them. There is a need to consciously cultivate and shape one's brand to align with aspirations and goals.
The lecture was interactive and engaging, with Mr. Jagmohan Singh employing relatable examples and activities such as guessing famous brand slogans and taglines. Attendees, including students and academicians, actively participated in the Q&A session, displaying their enthusiasm for the topic.

Muhammad Mehdi Raza, a student of the BA (Hons) in International Business Management programme shared, "This personal branding talk has transformed the way I perceive myself and approach life. The guest lecture was organised by Ms. Harjinder Kaur, a Senior Lecturer at SoMM, along with the organising committee members, Dr. Song Bee Lian, Dr. Tee Poh Kiong, Mr. David Ng Kok Meng, and Dr. Wong Ling Chai, marked a significant milestone for SoMM in connecting students with industry leaders and leaving a lasting impact on their understanding of personal branding and networking skills.
