ISUC Hosts Transformative Powerpoint Presentation Skill Workshop for Pusat Kreatif Kanak-Kanak Tuanku Bainunn (PKKTB)

Hands-On Workshop Aims to Cultivate Effective Communication and Presentation Abilities Among Young Minds.

In a world overflowing with information, the ability to convey ideas effectively is a remarkable skill, especially for young minds. The Integrated Sustainability & Urban Creativity Centre (ISUC) at APU recognised this and recently embarked on an exciting mission.

On a sunny morning, 19 August 2023, 15 students from Pusat Kreatif Kanak-Kanak Tuanku Bainun (PKKTB), accompanied by their teacher, arrived at APU campus for the very first time. Excitement crackled in the air like electricity — they can’t wait for the special ‘mission’ arranged for them.

The mission? A unique PowerPoint Presentation Skill Workshop, designed to arm these young learners with confidence to seamlessly translate their ideas from their minds into engaging PowerPoint presentations.

Throughout the day, various efforts were done in creating an interactive session for all. It includes learning the art of slide design, content structuring, delivery techniques, and the magic of public speaking. By embracing these skills at an early age, these students will build a strong foundation for effective communication that will serve them well in academic in the future.

As part of the experience, students also have the chance to engage in collaborative activities, receive personalised feedback, and learn how to navigate various digital tools to elevate their presentation skills. The workshop concluded with a showcase session, where students demonstrated their newfound skills by delivering brief presentations on topics of their choice.

PKKTB and APU have previously established a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). Currently, we are actively implementing various programmes aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, the ISUC’s focus is on SDG 4, which pertains to Quality Education, in which they dedicated it to enhancing the presentation skills of children aged 13 to 15. 

“I can’t wait to get into the university life!” exclaimed 15-year-old Muhammad Aris Afiq. “I learned a lot in this session, and we had a lot of fun while learning.”

In the end, it wasn't just about learning; it was about having fun while mastering a crucial skill that will serve them well in academia and beyond. We hope these students had learned something new, something useful which may take them far in life.
