APU IMechE Student Chapter Welcomes New Leaders for the 2024-2025 Term

A handover ceremony and annual general meeting brought together both outgoing and incoming student committees, along with university and Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) officials.

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Student Chapter welcome their new community members for ‘July 2024 to June 2025’ term on 5th August 2024.

The handover ceremony and annual general meeting was a significant occasion for the APU IMechE student community, bringing together both the outgoing and incoming student committees, along with Prof Ir Eur Ing Ts Dr Vinesh Thiruchelvam, APU’s Chief Innovation & Enterprise Officer and IMechE’s International Strategic Board Vice-Chair.

Head School of Engineering (SoE), Assoc Prof Ir Dr Siva Kumar Sivanesan; Academic Laison Officer of APU IMechE Student Chapter, Ts Dr Arun Seeralan Balakrishnan; Young Members Society Chair of IMechE Malaysian branch, Dr Hsien Loong; and IMechE Malaysia Committee Member, Ir Ts Dr Alexander Chee Hon Cheong were also present.

The ceremony started with introduction to the new student committee members, and each shared a few words of self-introduction and their respective position in the new student APU IMechE student committee.

• President – leading a dynamic team of dedicated individuals is Amogha Seelan.
• Vice-Presidents – ably supporting the President are Sanjay Kumar and Raveen Sangaran.
• Secretaries – steering the ship from behind the scenes are Ahmed Adam and Farah Wesam Mohammad.
• Treasurer – managing finances is Praveen Vikkram Arulrajan.

• Head of Logistics – logistical operations will be managed by Saad Sohail Syed.
• Head of Public Relations – spreading the news will be Isameldin Ahmed Hussein Ahmed.
• Head of Design – creative minds will be fuelled by Mustafa Murtaza Karimi.
• Head of Social Media – keeping the team connected via social media will be Thasne Rames.
• Committee Members – Rounding out the leadership team are Thanigai Kumaran Muthukumaran, Fernandez Tan Jun Xian, Shiddarrtana Soorace, and Emma Reese Hoff.

The event was a great success and not only provided great insights on the strides APU IMechE student chapter has made throughout the years, but also provided student committee members with great opportunities to mould them as professional Engineers for the future.

During the event, Prof. Vinesh also provided a motivational speech that inspired both the outgoing and incoming committee members.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates and tokens of appreciation to the outgoing student members and senior contributors, followed by a photo session to commemorate the occasion.
