On 7 March 2026, members of the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) Community Engagement (ACE) Club carried out a meaningful volunteering visit to HOPE Worldwide Malaysia at Sentul Raya Boulevard, Kuala Lumpur, where they dedicated their time to supporting educational classes for underprivileged children.

The corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed not only to uplift the local community but also to provide university students with an opportunity to step beyond campus life and engage in purposeful service.

The programme centred on assisting HOPE Worldwide Malaysia’s teachers in delivering lessons designed to strengthen the children’s foundational knowledge and reading skills.

Throughout the session, volunteers interacted closely with the children, fostering a warm and engaging learning environment through small games and role-play activities that made learning both fun and memorable.

As a gesture of encouragement, each child received a small gift from the ACE Club, inspiring them to continue their learning journey with confidence.

The session saw the participation of around 10 enthusiastic volunteers, all eager to make a positive impact.

During the visit, they supported teachers in facilitating lessons, guided the children through various activities, and offered continuous encouragement to ensure that every child actively took part.

Ms Abbhirami Sivarajan, ACE Advisor and APU’s School of Business (SoB) Lecturer, highlighted the broader impact of the initiative.

“Programmes like this play an important role in shaping our students into compassionate and socially responsible individuals.

“By engaging directly with the community, they not only contribute to meaningful causes but also gain valuable life experiences that extend far beyond the classroom.”

Representing the volunteers, Lee Foo Ping, a year two Digital Forensic student, shared it was a rewarding experience to share their knowledge and support the children at HOPE Worldwide Malaysia.

“Interacting with them was truly enjoyable, and it reminded us how even small contributions can make a meaningful difference.”

The initiative reflected the club’s strong commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.

It also enabled volunteers to develop essential values such as empathy, teamwork and a deeper appreciation of the importance of giving back to society.
