APU Celebrates Inspiring Achievements in Its First-Ever Wellness Warrior Challenge

APU successfully concluded its first Wellness Warrior Challenge, a three-month programme promoting healthier lifestyles among staff through weight-loss, fat-loss, and steps-based activities, with outstanding performers such as Dr Mudasar Zafar, Ms Nesha, Ms Noris Ismail, Mr James Dominic Kau Yun Hin, and Ms Syaridatul Mardiah Zulkifli, and looks forward to even greater participation next year.

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) has successfully concluded its inaugural Wellness Programme, the Wellness Warrior Challenge on 17 September 2025. 

This three-month initiative, organised in collaboration with Columbia Asia Hospital, Bukit Jalil, brought full-time staff together on a shared mission: to embrace healthier habits, build camaraderie, and push personal boundaries in a friendly but motivating competition.

Designed to encourage sustainable lifestyle improvements, the Challenge focused on weight management, fat loss, and daily activity, with a dedicated one-month Steps Challenge forming part of the overall programme.

In the Highest Kilogram Loss (Male) category, Dr Mudasar Zafar secured first place with an impressive loss of 9.9 kg, followed by Mr Sharafudin Abd Aziz in second place with 2.8 kg, and Dr Nohman Khan in third place with 2.6 kg.

For the Highest Kilogram Loss (Female) category, Ms Nesha achieved first place with 6.7 kg lost. Ms Noor Adeela Ghafar came in second with 6.4 kg, while Ms Sabtiah Mohd Noh placed third with 4.9 kg.

In the Highest Fat Loss (Male) category, Dr Mudasar Zafar once again claimed first place with 6.1% total body fat loss. Dr Nohman Khan secured second place with 2.1%, and Mr Hasan Akram Abdullah Zaid took third place with 1.9%.

For the Highest Fat Loss (Female) category, Ms Noris Ismail led the group with a 5.3% reduction in total body fat. She was followed by Ms Nesha in second place with 4.6%, and Ms Zaniroraati Dahalan in third place with 2.6%.

In the One-Month Steps Challenge (Male) category, Mr James Dominic Kau Yun Hin achieved first place by recording 1,010,616 steps. Mr Mohd Hanis Jenalis came in second with 997,493 steps, and Mr Sharafudin Abd Aziz secured third place with 684,153 steps.

Meanwhile, in the One-Month Steps Challenge (Female) category, Ms Syaridatul Mardiah Zulkifli emerged as the champion with 1,172,930 steps. She was followed by Ms Siti Rozaifah Rofiee in second place with 841,152 steps, and Ms Norrabiatul Adauya Abdul Salleh in third place with 622,002 steps.

Reflecting on the success of the programme, APU Human Resource Manager, Ms Ooi Lee Lee, shared that the Wellness Warrior Challenge has shown us just how committed our staff are to prioritising their health and wellbeing. 

“Their enthusiasm, determination, and team spirit have been truly inspiring. This initiative is more than a competition. It marks the beginning of a healthier, more connected workplace community.”

Event Lead & Senior Executive of Human Resources, Ms Yunfarha Jasin, added seeing participants push themselves and support one another has been incredibly rewarding. “Every small effort, every step, and every positive change contributed to a shared success story. We are proud of all our Warriors for embracing the journey with such positivity and drive.”
