APU’s Accounting & Finance Club (AFC) collaborated with University Putra Accounting Club (UPAC) at NASS 2026, giving students valuable industry insights and networking opportunities while strengthening partnerships for future initiatives.
The Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) Accounting & Finance Club (AFC) continued to strengthen its mission of delivering value-added experiences to students through meaningful inter-varsity and industry collaborations.
A recent highlight of this commitment was AFC’s engagement with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the University Putra Accounting Club (UPAC) during the National Accounting Sustainability Symposium (NASS) 2026.
The symposium was organised by the UPM School of Business and Economics in collaboration with ACCA, the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and CPA Australia.
This collaboration reflected AFC’s ongoing dedication to expanding its network across both academic institutions and industry players, with the aim of creating more impactful platforms for APU students.
Through such initiatives, students broadened their perspectives, connected with peers from other universities, and gained valuable exposure to experienced professionals in the accounting and finance field.
The symposium featured two engaging forum sessions led by distinguished speakers.
The first session brought together Mr Shakir Ab Razak from PwC, Mr Nooryusazli from NY Consulting, and Mr Ian Ng from Forvis Mazars, who shared practical insights on sustainability and the evolving role of accountants.
The second forum featured representatives from KPMG, Mr Chin Kit Seong from Crowe, and Dr Ahmad Hezri from the United Nations Development Programme, further enriching discussions on sustainability, governance, and the future of the profession.
Students from APU who attended the symposium described the experience as both insightful and inspiring.
“NASS 2026 was more than just a symposium. It served as a platform to connect with seasoned professionals and like-minded accounting enthusiasts from universities across Malaysia,” said Muhammad Umair Moniaruth, AFC President and an Accounting & Finance student at APU.
Layla Suleiman, from the same programme, added, “I appreciated the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the environment and insights shared during the visit — it was a valuable experience that broadened my perspective.”
Al Mogira Omer also reflected on his experience, noting that being part of NASS 2026 allowed him to step beyond the classroom.
“I was able to engage with real-world ideas in accounting and sustainability, which was both motivating and eye-opening.”
Through collaborations with UPAC and other university partners, AFC aimed to further strengthen its ecosystem of connections — not only among students, but also with industry professionals — to deliver initiatives that were both relevant and impactful.
Looking ahead, AFC planned to work closely with UPAC on upcoming events in the weeks that followed, further reinforcing this partnership while creating even more opportunities for APU students.
