APU’s Media and Communication Studies students visited OM Connect Sdn. Bhd., where they gained industry insights into creative workflows and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in content creation through a sharing session by Co-Founder, Mr Randy Too, providing valuable exposure to real-world media and marketing practices.
On 5 June 2026, an industry visit organised by the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) School of Media, Arts and Design (SoMAD) brought 22 Media and Communication Studies students to OM Connect Sdn. Bhd., where they gained valuable insights into creative workflows and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in content creation through a sharing session by Co-Founder Mr Randy Too, offering meaningful exposure to real-world media and marketing practices.
During the session, students were exposed to real-world creative agency workflows, including the integration of AI tools in content creation, strategic planning, and campaign development.
They also gained a clearer understanding of industry expectations for aspiring creative professionals, as well as the importance of adaptability and innovation in a rapidly evolving media landscape.
The experience served as a meaningful bridge between theory and practice, enabling students to contextualise their academic learning within a real industry setting.
Reflecting on the visit, SoMAD Senior Lecturer, Mr Edwin Pio Rufus Samiraj, the module lecturer, shared that the experience had provided students with invaluable first-hand exposure to the intersection of creativity and technology in today’s professional environment.
He shared that it was encouraging to see students actively engaged, asking thoughtful questions, and developing a stronger understanding of how their skills could be applied in the industry.
He also expressed his appreciation to OM Connect and Mr Randy for their time, knowledge-sharing, and hospitality, which significantly enriched the students’ learning experience.
One of the participants, Gui Xirui, a Media and Communication Studies student, said the visit had given a clear insight into how creative agencies combined human creativity with AI tools.
She explained that students were introduced to the full advertising workflow, from developing a client brief to producing visuals and short videos and added that the internship programme presented meaningful career opportunities for APU students in the marketing industry.
Xirui described the experience as “eye-opening” and “highly beneficial for their future media career”.
