Recently, the School of Business (SoB) at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) hosted a thought-provoking session titled “Leading in uncertain times.”

The session featured Mr Rohit Talwar, Global Futurist and Chief Executive Officer of Fast Future, who shared valuable insights on navigating uncertainty and shaping future-ready leadership, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 4 and 8 (SDG 4 and SDG 8).

Organised by Ms Cynthia Mala Paul Dorairaj (Lecturer, SoB at APU), the session brought together students, lecturers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, including members of the Kuala Lumpur Tourism, Entrepreneurs, and Stakeholders Association (KLTESA).
Strategic Insights on future-ready Leadership

Mr Rohit delivered a compelling and thought-provoking session that captured the participants’ attention through powerful insights and forward-looking perspectives.
He explored key global trends, including artificial intelligence (AI), geopolitical shifts, evolving consumer behaviour, and climate transitions, while emphasising the critical role of adaptability and strategic foresight in effective leadership.
Through engaging storytelling and real-world examples, participants were encouraged to challenge conventional thinking, embrace innovation, and build the resilience required to lead in uncertain and rapidly changing environments.

The session was further enriched by expert moderation from Datuk Seri Mirza Mohd Taiyab Beg, Advisor of KLTESA and Kuala Lumpur Tourism Executive Association (KLTEA), whose extensive industry experience added depth and relevance to the session.
Drawing from his background in tourism, entrepreneurship, and national competitiveness, he facilitated meaningful conversations that bridged global trends with local and regional contexts.
This dynamic exchange provided participants with a well-rounded understanding of how leadership strategies can be effectively applied across industries, reinforcing the importance of agility and informed decision-making in navigating uncertainty.
From Vision to Action

Overall, the session not only sparked meaningful conversations on the future of leadership, but also strengthened participants’ ability to move from vision to action by translating forward-looking insights into tangible steps within their academic, professional, and entrepreneurial journeys.

Prof Dr Kashif Hussain (Senior Head, SoB and School of Global Hospitality and Tourism at APU) highlighted the strong emphasis on foresight, innovation, and adaptability encouraged participants to reflect more deeply on how their individual decisions and mindsets contribute to shaping a rapidly evolving world.
“Many were further inspired to apply strategic thinking and innovative practices in their respective fields, while also recognising the importance of continuous learning, collaboration, and agility as essential tools for navigating change effectively.”
Ultimately, the session reinforced that leadership in uncertain times extends beyond formal titles or positions; it is demonstrated through clarity of vision, resilience in action, and the consistent ability to transform ideas into meaningful and sustainable impact.
