APU Jiu-Jitsu Club (APUJJ) won one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal at the ADCC Malaysia Open 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, showcasing strong performance and earning recognition for APU at national and international levels.

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) Jiu-Jitsu Club (APUJJ) delivered an impressive performance at the ADCC Malaysia Open 2026, securing one gold, two silver, and one bronze medal at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition held at EkoCheras Mall, Kuala Lumpur.
Organised by ADCC Malaysia and Scrambleclash Events Sdn. Bhd., the tournament saw APUJJ field four athletes: Malik Rehab Awan (Pakistan), Temirlan Tyulyubayev (Kazakhstan), Serik Pangereyev (Kazakhstan), and Rakhim Otegen (Kazakhstan), who competed across various weight categories and divisions.
Temirlan Tyulyubayev claimed the gold medal in the Intermediate division under the 76–83 kg category, while Malik Rehab Awan and Serik Pangereyev each secured silver medals in the Beginner division under the 76–83 kg and 83–91 kg categories respectively.
Rakhim Otegen added to the tally with a bronze medal in the Beginner division under the 76–83 kg category.
With a strong overall medal haul, the team demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, and sportsmanship on both national and international competitive stages.

Mr Ahmad Mohammad, Assistant Manager of Sports Development and Student Affairs, said the achievement reflected the athletes’ hard work and dedication, while also bringing pride and recognition to APU.
APUJJ President, Temirlan Tyulyubayev, highlighted that the club remained committed to continuous growth, strengthening martial arts culture within the university, and representing APU with excellence in future competitions.
Malik Rehab, APUJJ Vice-President, added that they felt very proud to represent APU in such an elite tournament organised by one of the leading organisations, and to win medals under the APUJJ banner.
“It was an honour to win a medal as rookies, as it was our first competition after only three months of training.
“We will train harder and aim to compete in more elite international tournaments in the future.”
