The year 2021 was fruitful for APU’s School of Media, Art & Design (SoMAD) as there were plenty of outstanding talents budded across twelve months. During the recently held Awards of Creative Excellence 2021 (ACE) Ceremony, radiant spotlights were focused on them to celebrate their achievement.

Ms Debbie Liew, the Associate Head of School of Media, Art & Design, and a lineup of dedicated lecturers who took part in announcing the winners, the event was premiered live on SoMAD official YouTube on 12 December 2021.
Celebrated in its 6th consecutive year since 2016, this annual event was meant to reward and recognize SoMAD students’ achievements, be it in academic performance or extracurricular activities.
On that auspicious evening, there were Best Student Awards, Most Improved Awards, Best Achievement Awards and Creative Excellence Awards given out to students studying Visual Effects, Animation, Product Design, Transport Design, Advertising Brand Management, Digital Film & 3D Animation Technology.
Himavarthiniy Easwaran was crowned with the Creative Excellence Award, for her outstanding achievement in clinching 2 awards – the Best Film Award & the Dramatization Award at the SDG Filmfest 2021, with her Public Service Announcement (PSA) video “Shaabam”.
Apart from that, Himavarthiniy also been selected as the “The Top 7 First Time Film Maker” at the 4th Dimension International Film Festival 2021, Bali, Indonesia based on her Final Year project, a short horror film titled “Wolf”.
