Sweet Victory In The 2021 Hanoi Sea Games

Diving into our Golden Age! A Proud Moment for APU and Malaysia!

Chew Yiwei, our BSc (Hons) in Computer Science (Cyber Security) student got his hands on the 31st Hanoi 2021 Sea Games Gold Medal after winning the men’s 3m springboard synchronised with his partner Ooi Tze Liang on Sunday, 8th May 2022.

Yiwei-Tze Liang garnered 395.79 points in the six-round competition at My Dinh Aquatic Centre to ensure a Malaysian sweep of the first two diving gold medals at stake on the opening day of competition.

For Yiwei-Tze Liang, this is their third triumph at the SEA Games stage. The duo also won in the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore.

After their win, the pair told the media their victory was special because they hadn't competed in two years due to the pandemic.

“This one is special for us because we have not been able to compete for quite some time. We want to thank all Malaysians for their continuous support even after the pandemic.”

“This is the second time we are paired for this event and we’re very happy with our performance,” they said.
