Our student-athletes truly thrived this season, winning 29 medals in September 2022 alone. The following are the inspiring summaries of the sporting events that you may have missed out, but are certainly well worth your time and attention.

Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA 2022)

It was a mission accomplished for our student-athletes in the 20th SUKMA 2022 as it ended successfully with big wins.

They collectively won 13 Gold Medals, 7 Silver Medals, and 4 Bronze Medals in the category of Wushu, Gymnastics, Swimming, Basketball, and Judo. Coming out with 24 medals in total.

Mr. Illangovan Thirumal as our Sport Executive mentioned it was a tough game with many close calls, however our APU team took us by surprise and attain flying colors with the games they set out to conquer.

The event took place from 16th to 24th September 2022 at four locations in Klang Valley – Kuala Lumpur, Bangi, Bukit Jalil, and Shah Alam as they embark to fulfill their goal.

FISU World Cup Combat Sports 2022

Navigating through university life is tough as it is. Now, add in Wushu practice, personal training, juggling studies, clubs and societies, and making room for personal life — seems like a lot.

Although their plates are full, our Wushu trio: Tammy Tan Hui Ling, Tan Cheong Wan, and Sydney Chin Sy Xuan pushed themselves to be resilient despite these obstacles, they worked together to make the most out of their efforts.

We’ve always been confident with our Wushu team. Mr. Illangovan believes that our Wushu team holds the edge in these athletics competitions and has always been the powerhouse in this area.

This was obviously demonstrated during the recently concluded SUKMA 2022 sport events where they also attained 5 medals and 9 from the ASEAN University Games in the Wushu category.

This time with their collective efforts, they gain another 5 Medals in the FISU World Cup Combat Sports 2022 which was held in Samsun, Turkey from 21st to 24th September 2022 (Right after their SUKMA sport events).

As you see, they are all final year students; nothing can stop these students from being awesome!

With that, our Wushu team delivered the following results:

We took this opportunity to reflect on the wins, the losses, the team building, and the personal development that our student-athletes underwent this season.

All of our student-athletes should be proud of their accomplishments. We will never forget their hard work, dedication, and perseverance that got them this far.

Congratulations to all of our athletes!
