Multiple Awards for APU IEEE Student Branch at 2024 IEEE Malaysia Inspiration Night

Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) was honoured to receive the prestigious 2024 IEEE Malaysia Corporate Partnership Award and the 2024 IEEE Malaysia Supporter Award at the 2024 IEEE Malaysia Inspiration Night.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), is the world's largest professional organisation dedicated to advancing technology for humanity's benefit.

Held at Le Meridien Putrajaya on July 6th, 2024, this annual gathering is a hallmark of inspiration, networking, and celebration within the computing and engineering community.

Led by Professor Dr Vinesh Thiruchelvam, APU Chief Innovation & Enterprise Officer, members of the APU IEEE Student Branch and selected faculty from the School of Computing, School of Technology, and School of Engineering attended the event.

The APU delegation included Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Ehsan Rana, Dr Vazeerudeen Hameed, Ms Hema Latha Krishna Nair, Ts Dr Siti Azreena, Dr Lau Chee Yong, Mr Kamalanathan Shanmugam, Mr Yogeswaran Nathan, Mr Mohd Hanis Jenalis, and other esteemed faculty members.

The awards, presented by the IEEE Malaysia Section and Malaysia's Deputy Minister for Energy Transition and Water Transformation, YB Tuan Haji Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, acknowledge the APU IEEE Student Branch's unwavering commitment to industry engagement and nurturing exceptional talents.

The evening was a testament to the collective efforts of dedicated faculty and students associated with the APU IEEE Student Branch (SB).

Established in 2014, the IEEE SB has achieved significant milestones, contributing to its sustained success over the past decade. The strong leadership of Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Ehsan Rana and Dr Vazeerudeen Hameed, combined with the dependable advisory from Prof Dr Vinesh Thiruchelvam, has made this year the most successful in its history.

"This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty and students. It motivates us to continue fostering a collaborative and innovation-driven environment," said Prof Dr Vinesh.

The university's IEEE SB, along with its three chapters—the Computer Society (CS) Chapter, the Communication Society (COMSOC) Chapter, and the Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Chapter—remain committed to preparing future generations of technology students with the skills and knowledge necessary to address the evolving challenges of the industry.

IEEE, with its 460,000 members in over 190 countries, including more than 171,000 student members, inspires a global community through its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.

Overall, IEEE has 344 Sections in 10 Geographic Regions worldwide, 2,709 Chapters uniting local members with similar technical interests, 3,635 Student Branches at colleges and universities in over 100 countries, 639 Affinity Groups, plus 39 Technical Societies and 8 Technical Councils representing a wide range of IEEE technical interests.
