APU Hosts MS ISO 560022019 Innovation Management Seminar


The Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU) proudly hosted the MS ISO 56002:2019 Innovation Management - Innovation Management System - Guidance Seminar, organised by The Malaysian Standards Department (JSM).


Prof Dr Vinesh Thiruchelvam (2nd from the right), CIEO of APU joining the members of the panel forum, shared his view at the MS ISO 56002:2019 Innovation Management - Innovation Management System - Guidance Seminar, held at APU.

Held on June 26th, this seminar aimed to promote the significance and application of the Malaysian Standard (MS) and to launch MS560002:2019.

Officiated by Ms Norhaliza Arifin, Deputy Director of JSM, representing YBrs Tuan Shaharul Sadri bin Alwi, Director General of JSM, the event drew a diverse audience of more than 80 participants from government and private sectors, industry, certification bodies, and academia.

The seminar provided comprehensive guidance on the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of innovation management systems as outlined in MS ISO 56002:2019.

One of the highlights was the panel forum featuring Professor Dr Vinesh Thiruchelvam, Chief Innovation and Enterprise Officer (CIEO) at APU.

Prof Vinesh shared insights into APU’s achievements in fostering innovation from the grassroots level, resulting in numerous national and international accolades. He also discussed the university’s in-house processes designed to cultivate an innovative thinking environment and transform ideas into commercial solutions and products.

APU has been an active member of the Committee on Innovation Management (NSC 25/TC 11) at JSM, contributing significantly to the development of ISO56000. Prof Vinesh played a crucial role in the final scripting and release of the ISO 56002 manual.

Reflecting on the seminar, Prof Vinesh stated, “As the CIEO at APU, I can see the linkage of the 'innovation' aspect at APU with MS ISO 56002:2019 Innovation Management - Innovation Management System – Guidance. APU has obtained a framework for innovation which can be further enhanced with the practices guided by MS ISO 56002’s IMS structure.”
