An Event Supported by the Ministry of Higher Education
APU eSports Club recently held its first-ever InterVarsity Valorant Tournament from July 31st to August 4th, marking a significant milestone for the APU eSports community. This large-scale event attracted participation from 18 universities across Malaysia, with 24 teams competing for a prize pool of RM5,000. Supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and APU, recognised as an eSports Focal Centre, the tournament underscored its importance within the Malaysian eSports landscape.

A Successful Student-Led Initiative
The entire event was organised and executed by APU students, showcasing their expertise in project management, marketing, production, and league operations. The initiative was led by Project Manager Ng Zi Yuan, President of APU eSports, and Assistant Project Manager Tan Wen Liang, Event Lead of APU eSports.
The team received guidance from mentors—Associate Professor Dr Tan Chin Ike, Ms Hashanna Abdul Halim, and Mr Muhammad Iqbal M. Mohamed Hanifa. The core team included Lim Jia Leong, responsible for graphic design, Tham Xin Yue as the Marketing Lead, and Aryssa Goh, who assisted with production.
League operations were expertly managed by Abdullah Mohammed Hazeq, Head of League Operations, alongside a dedicated team of marshalls: Patrick Tinotenda Chitambara, Lee Zhao Yi, Lee Jian Xhe, Mohammed Muneeb Shaikh, Tharusha Don, Whee Khen, Shaun Chiang Kum Wah, Ryandra Yudha Bramantyo, and Eric Hendryani.

Tournament Highlights
The tournament featured intense competition among 18 universities, including UniKL, UOW Glenmarie, MMU Cyberjaya, Taylor's University, City University, Heriot-Watt University, UITM, and University Technology Sarawak, among others. The grand final was a thrilling display of skill and strategy, with APU eSports claiming the championship title, followed by Sunway eSports in second place and UITM securing third.
Beyond the competition, the event offered invaluable learning experiences for APU students, particularly in production and marshalling. The team utilised OBS for production, gaining hands-on experience in managing a live-streaming setup. "It was a great learning experience for me to run this streaming setup," shared Project Manager Ng Zi Yuan. "I've learned a lot about timing and how to solve last-minute problems, which are crucial skills in event management," added Assistant Project Manager Tan Wen Liang.
