Dr Teh participated as a panellist in the session titled "Building Trust & Credibility – The Impact of Blockchain Certification." He addressed key questions on how blockchain technology is revolutionising the issuance and verification of academic and professional certifications.
Dr Teh emphasised the potential of blockchain to combat credential fraud in Malaysia’s education sector, ensuring greater authenticity and trust in academic qualifications. The panel also featured representatives from MDEC, MAICSA, and MYCO2 Sustainability & ESG Compliance, fostering a rich discussion on blockchain’s role in various industries.
APU’s Pioneering Blockchain Initiatives
APU’s collaboration with Masverse has been active for several years, positioning the university as a leader in blockchain adoption for education. Notably, APU was the first university in Malaysia to issue micro-credential certificates as NFTs, a groundbreaking step in enhancing learner recognition and mobility.
Additionally, APU has integrated blockchain verification into its Vice Chancellor’s List (VC List) certificates, awarded to students who achieve a GPA of 3.70 and above. This initiative ensures academic excellence is recognised through a secure, tamper-proof, and globally verifiable platform.
