Formation of APU as Malaysia's First CompTIA Academy Partner in Malaysia

We are pleased to share that APU has successfully become the first CompTIA Authorized Academy Partner in Malaysia. Mr. Gurpardeep Singh, Vice President of Operations, APU and Mr. Dennis Kwok, Vice President, Asia Pacific, CompTIA, launched the partnership at APU on Thursday, 11 June 2015.

This collaboration will provide an opportunity for APU students to graduate with both an academic degree from APU and internationally-recognised and vendor-neutral IT skills credentials from CompTIA.

The goal of the this program is to help schools train, certify, and upgrade the skills of their IT students. The CompTIA Academy Partner Program provides substantial incentives and resources to help Academy Partners support the acquisition of the knowledge and skills necessary for important industry IT credentials. Benefits of the program include access to learning content for instructors and students, robust administrator tools, exam voucher discounts, and resources to support organisations and prepare students for IT-related job roles. 

The partnership between APU and CompTIA occured at an opportune time. Professional certifications, such as those awarded by CompTIA, place increasingly important roles in the hiring and promotion of IT professionals nowadays. Hiring managers and HR professionals believe that IT candidates who possess industry certifications are able demonstrate that they have a baseline set of knowledge, therefore are more likely to be hired and promoted.

During the ceremony, Mr. Dennis Kwok, Vice President, Asia Pacific, CompTIA  mentioned, “APU is an important strategic partner for us because the University is at the forefront of improving workforce development, increasing student employability and delivering long-term education value. Partnering with APU helps CompTIA to fulfill one of its primary objectives – to prepare the IT workforce of today and tomorrow.”
